CTC Torbay Spring 2009 Newsletter

You notice that spring is arriving, cyclists turning up at Kingskerswell in shorts and fingerless gloves and without a coat on. Don’t store away those track bottoms and coats just yet, the forecast for this weekend isn’t all sunshine, but odd showers.

Rides lists were sent out last week covering the period April to mid June with a ride planned for every Sunday, and sometimes two, plus a pub ride every Wednesday evening. Sunday Rides Meet at 09.00 at Kinskerswell Arch for a 09.15 start.
Varied selection of rides, some hard, some easy with a car assisted ride on Sunday 10 May. Drive down to South Brent Rail Station and cycle onto Bigbury -on-Sea where we will meet up with Chris Bennett and other Torbay members.
We may also be joined by riders from the South Hams group. So if you want to join the car assisted group bring your car to the start or arrange for a lift with another member.
Wednesday Evening Rides:
Now that the clocks have changed and it’s not getting dark to well after 8 would like to see a lot more of you out on a Wednesday evening.
They meet at 7.00 and leave at 7.15 from Kingskerswell. Steve Main leads a easy, flatish ride on the first Wednesday of each month for newcomers and several of the other rides and well into the capabilities of most Torbay riders. They are usually in the pub by nine and if you settle for just one drink you can be home by ten. Attendance Points Points are awarded to riders on Sunday and

Wednesday rides and trophies are presented at the end of the year to the winners. Roger Wyman has won the Frost Bite Trophy for most points on the Wednesday Evening rides this last winter and now they all will compete for the award for the summer evening rides.
